Deerhunter 3
« on: October 20, 2008, 09:15:20 PM »

I had several games on my cell phone already:  Scrabble--which I love, Tetris--which is cool, something a bit odd called Diamond Islands, and Frogger.  (I am terrible at Frogger.  My frogs almost always get run over by trucks or fall off logs.)

I downloaded Deerhunter 3 over the weekend and spent a lot of time over the last couple of days shooting "ant-sized" deer and bears.   Wink  It's really fun.  My trophy walls are filled with both deer and bear trophies.  (Evidently the walls only have room for eight each though and I've shot ten of each.)  I've shot a few rabbits and birds, too, but they don't go in the trophy room.  They were a lot harder to learn how to hit initially because they are even smaller ants than the deer and bears, but they move in a predictable pattern--unlike real ones--so I eventually began to hit them.

The bears are easier to HIT because they rise up on two feet and make themselves easier targets, but if you only wound one he will "scare you away" from the hunting area.  The deer are really cool-- they hide in grass and behind trees, graze, move around a lot more realistically than the rabbits, and come in different types, sizes, etc.

You can hunt in the USA, Canada, or Europe--take THAT Canadian border guards!  The scenery is pretty in a tiny, wooded/grassy/mountainous way with pretty autumn leaves and lovely snowy scenes.

It would be really cool if there were other animals--like squirrels and maybe mountain lions on there, too, but...

The rifle is easy.  I can't hit squat with the bow yet...

The only bad thing is when you hunt this way you can't eat anything you shoot.

Ok, I have finally killed enough deer and bears to be on PETA's most wanted list and I've advanced through all the levels of hunter--may have a few challenges left.  The only thing left for me to do is re-set and start over using the bow, I guess.
Sigh.
I like guns.  They are easier.

I used to love playing Duck Hunt on my son's old original Nintendo game.  There's no laughing dog here when you miss, but it is a great game.
